Cesar Romero was a popular actor for decades, gaining fame as a “Latin lover” in films from the 1930s through the 50s. His father was a Spaniard who moved to America in 1888. Cesar was born in New York in 1904. After playing straight roles (as well as singing and dancing) for years, he found new fame and new generations of fans when he became the Joker on the Batman TV show. Famous for his mustache, he did not shave it for the role but instead had it covered with makeup while he was in costume. As a kid I never noticed this and it was only years later that someone told me about this.
He really relished this role and really made it his own. Seriously, he is the only true Joker for me. Maybe he is for you, too. If you are a fan of Cesar Romero’s Joker then having an original artwork of the man in this role will really make your day–or week. Have it framed and hang it proudly in your home. I can guarantee you that anyone who passes by it is going to stop and take a closer look. It’s sure to be a conversation starter!
