Yellow Brick Road

Elton John blasted onto the music scene in the early 1970s and hasn’t really left. Albums and songs like “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” “Candle in the Wind” and “Benny and the Jets” could be heard in constant radio rotation. This portrait captures Elton in his 1970s heyday, on stage at his piano belting out one of his hits. He sports one of his signature outrageous costumes (a blue satin jacket, open at the chest with a black satin, rhinestone-studded collar).

I used a looser style for the jacket to emphasize the energy of the moment, a live concert appearance.
