One More Thing

If any actor owned a role, Peter Falk owned the character of Lt. Columbo, the disheveled homicide detective of the LAPD. His ability to be both serious and comic made him beloved among fans of the show. He seemed to know instinctively that a suspect was in fact guilty and spent most of the episode pestering the suspect, eating away at their veneer of innocence. His trademark line “Just one more thing…” (with finger in the air) is a classic. He concealed his sharp mind behind a rumpled rain coat which fooled his nemeses into thinking he was just a shoddy, unkempt cop — until the end when Columbo forces them into a corner and seals their fate.

Falk was a gifted and award-winning actor (twice nominated for an Academy Award) before taking on the role of Columbo, but for fans THIS was the role he was born to play.
