Joan Crawford (nee Lucille Fay LeSueur) was one of the most prominent actresses in the Golden Age of Hollywood. Starting in the 1920’s she became one of the highest paid celebrities of the era. In later years she worked in television as well. She won the academy award for best actress in 1945 for “Mildred Pierce.” She’s also remembered for her appearance in 1962’s “What Ever Happened to Baby Jane” with her rival Bette Davis. Their famous (infamous?) rivalry was the subject the recent TV series “Feud,” in which Crawford is played by Jessica Lange, and Davis by Susan Sarandon.
The painting measures 16 inches by 20 inches and is painted in oil. This one-of-a-kind, original artwork will ship UNFRAMED. Whatever controversies may surround her, this portrait evokes the age of glamour and sophistication in 1930s and 40s Hollywood which has never been duplicated. Looking at her hair and makeup (those lips) you can’t help but conjure up names like Max Factor. Afficionados of Hollywood glamour and Joan Crawford fans will love hanging this portrait in their home.
