Dean: Rat Pack

Here’s Dean Martin as Sam Harmon from 1960’s “Ocean’s Eleven.” Danny Ocean (Frank) invites his war buddies (including Dean) to join him in a big heist: ripping off 5 casinos in Las Vegas on New Year’s Eve. The film is a great Rat Pack time capsule also featuring Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Lawford and Cesar Romero.

Dean Martin’s character is, luckily enough, a singer at one of the Vegas casinos and we get treated to a great rendition of “Ain’t That a Kick in the Head” in this film. With Dean, Frank and Sammy you could always hear them smiling as they sang (something sadly missing from today’s artists).

The painting measures 16 inches by 20 inches and is painted in oil. This one-of-a-kind, original artwork will ship UNFRAMED. This portrait captures Dean/Sam’s face as the hard/ill-gotten gains of the heist go up in flames. The other members of the group turn and look at each other in silent dismay, knowing they can’t say a word. They can only sit and dream of what they just had, now turned into a pile of ashes.

NOTE: I painted this as a set of paintings including Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis, Jr. Collectors may want to snap up all three to display on their wall (if the others haven’t sold first!) In fact, Dean’s puckered face (almost ready to cry) really does work best in the context of the whole rat pack.
