Everyone loves Dr. Sevrin, right? PLayed by Skip Homieier on the Star Trek episode “The Way To Eden” Dr. Sevrin was a no-so-subtle nod toward Timothy Leary. Like Leary, the insane Dr. Sevrin led a band of space hippies in search of the planet Eden and urged them to “tune in, turn on and drop out” of regular society.

Homeier was a fixture in 60s and 70s TV and made two appearances on Star Trek during the series’ run. He had a distinctive and memorable voice and usually played characters that were bad guys or were offbeat in some way.

This episode is one of my favorites–in no small part because Homeier did such a brilliant job with the character.

These are the first two prints in a run of 11 pieces. I am selling them separately because they are more perfect than the others in the run, although screen printing is always frought with imperfections. The coat of Dr. Sevrin was made using the “split fountain” technique which uses multiple inks pulled through the screen at the same time to make a gradient. Each print will be slightly different due to this but I think it adds to the uniqueness of the piece. I even LIKE the “imperfections” in this area since it bolsters the effect of the multicolor coat Homeier wore in the episode. The other 9 pieces are available on this site too for a lower price.

These prints are 9″x12″ on watercolor paper, signed and numbered by the artist (me!). All screen prints ship UNFRAMED.

If you are a fan of classic TV and Star Trek (the Original Series) I think you’ll love having Dr. Sevrin in your home!
