There is only one Batman. Adam West. The others come and go, but is any one man truly associated with this character in the recent movies? Of course not. Adam West, in an appearance on a Simpsons episode said “the only real Catwoman is Julie Newmar, Eartha Kitt or Lee Merriwether!” The same can be said of him and his role as Bruce Wayne’s crime fighting alter ego.
Batman was campy in the 60s. The novelty of color TV, pop art and psychedelic music all seemed to converge at the time and Batman (1966) was a product of its era. Kids adored the caped crusader and took him seriously while adults could sit back and laugh at the campy humor. Guest villains like the Joker, Riddler, Penguin and Catwoman were over the top and each of those villains became as associated with the characters as Batman. On top of that the show had really hip theme music. It was so popular it was covered by groups like the Who and the Kinks!
These are some test prints I did and while they’re not art gallery quality, I had fun making them and I wanted to put them on this site for any Batman fans that want to relive a colorful and wacky childhood. They’re a bit skewed. Some lines aren’t perfect and there may be a smudge or two (very minor) depending on which one gets shopped to you, but I’m also pricing them really low to reflect this. I love them regardless. I think you will too!
This is a series of 14 prints.
These prints are approximately 8″x8″ on watercolor paper, All screen prints ship UNFRAMED.
