Michael Landon was “Little Joe” Cartwright, the youngest of the three Cartwright brothers on “Bonanza.” In contrast to his older brother Hoss, Joe was a bit more sauve and clever. When it came down to brass tacks, however, he could fight as well as any other member of the Cartwright clan.

Landon’s career spanded decades and several memorable shows including “Little House on the Prairie” and “Highway to Heaven.” Sadly, he was taken away at a still young age by cancer.

Like Mount Rushmore, whose four faces are indelibly etched on the American conscience, Little Joe and the other Cartwrights (Ben, Adam and Hoss) are also part of the American psyche and “Bonanza” stands as one of the great Western TV shows of all time.
