Hope

Bob Hope. An American icon. What more do you say about a man whose career spanned 70 plus years and two centuries? Hope was the face of American comedy for decades and appeared in countless films and television specials. The Bob Hope/Bing Crosby team were famous for their “road” pictures, taking us across the globe from Morocco to Zanzibar and all points in between.

Multiple generations grew up knowing just who Bob Hope was. And we can’t forget his tireless service to the U.S.O., entertaining troops in several conflicts.

“This is Bob (for Texaco) Hope” was also a familiar phrase we heard throughout his television specials. (Texaco sponsored the shows). Seeing him on TV introduced this legend to even more fans. Bob passed away at the very ripe old age of 100. My airport here in Burbank, CA is known (at least for years) as Bob Hope airport so his image is always close by.
