Harry Lillis “Bing” Crosby was born in 1903. He became one the biggest singers/movie stars in the world. Think of the song “White Christmas.” You can’t without also thinking of Bing Crosby who made that song his own. His career lasted from the 1930s all the way to 1977, the year of his death.

Aside from being America’s top crooner, Crosby revolutionized the recording industry by investing in (then nacent) reel-to-reel tape recording.

Along with Bob Hope, Crosby made several “road” pictures for which the two are forever remembered. Younger generations will remember him (and family) form the Minute Maid Orange Juice commercials he did in the 1970s. And no mention of Crosby would be complete without a nod to his duet with David Bowie for his 1977 Christmas Special. Yes, David Bowie.

Crosby loved golf and as a resident of Palm Springs, he played at many of the courses there. I’ve been fortunate to play some of those old courses and walk in “Der Bingle’s” footsteps since I grew up in Palm Springs. Crosby would ultimately die doing what he loved, golfing, in 1977.

The painting measures 16 inches by 20 inches and is painted in oil. This one-of-a-kind, original artwork will ship UNFRAMED. This portrait is of Bing, probably in the 1940s.  Fans “Der Bingle” would love this portait hanging on their wall. Hey, pair it with the Hope portait for real “road picture” nostalgia.
