Jack Lord as 5-0 chief Steve McGarrett dominated the airwaves from 1968 to 1980. He was a hard-nosed top cop who took crime seriously. Honest, determined and fair he brooked no half measures in making sure our 50th state was kept clean of crime. While chasing down some fugitive or would-be criminal, McGarrett ALWAYS wore a suit and tie, even in the humid tropical Hawaiian climate.

However…

When McGarrett was off-duty he took on different look. He favored the loudest, most garish Hawaiian print shirts and sport coats. Surely he would never attract unwanted attention in one of those, right? And the hats. McGarrett seems to have loved the biggest, sombrero-sized hats he could get his hands on. Some look like they had crocodile teeth hatbands. And no off-duty chief of the state police would be complete without a big, flouncy neckercheif. When McGarrett went casual he REALLY went casual.

The painting measures 16 inches by 20 inches and is painted in oil. This one-of-a-kind, original artwork will ship FRAMED . This portrait of Jack Lord as the “casual” Steve McGarret features him in a Hawaiian print shirt and pink bandana/neckerchief.  This outfit is tame compared to the stuff McGarrett wore in the episode “Six Kilos.” Check that one out to see some real color! Devoted fans of the original 5-0 will instantly recoginze the off-duty McGarrett smile each time they pass him hanging in their hallway. Mahalo!
